The VI-grade DiM® simulator is a very powerful machine that uses electrically driven actuators to deliver high performance and high quality motion to the driver. But while power is important, control is needed to the give the driver the right feedback. This is why VI-grade develops its own Motion Cueing algorithm to make sure that driving experience is as close as possible to reality.
Our Motion Cueing is based on a completely new approach focused on maximizing perception by utilizing the full DiM® motion envelope. By focusing on the driver, seat displacements and accelerations, provide far more accurate and meaningful feedback to develop the cars of tomorrow. While designing DiM®, we decided to use the most common and inexpensive element to counterbalance high dynamic loads and to sustain payload: air.
The DiM® tripod moves on a flat surface sliding on airpads. This solution makes our driving simulator very reliable, silent and extremely stiff at the same time. Furthermore airpads allowed us to avoid the use of multiple rails which add cost, complexity, friction, latency, noise and penalize performance.
